BSF Update

  • BSF fees increase discussed
  • Under 18 umpires need someone over 18 to be there to supervise them during games
  • BSUK are consulting on merging, more information to follow
  • Enhanced insurance. We confirmed we are not financial advisors and gave information about the personal insurance for £21/team. It must be a unanimous decision. Most teams in agreement, some going away to check with players. Decision by e-mail in a week.

League Development

  • Shared ideals about how the divisions work and what could be a setup.
  • Development league:
    • Looking at running from mid-May to mid-June
    • Cost would be ground, we think we have sufficient equipment to fulfil the need.
    • Coaching can be provided by people within the league or their team
    • Will cater for people who understand the game and have had some coaching
    • Looking at running some games and arranging some coaching.
    • Paul to put together more information and send out details to teams.
    • Can we look at winter taster sessions to recruit people into the league?
  • Looking at bigger Annie’s day with a softball game going on
    • This is in negotiations for a proper softball game
    • Looking at 20th August 2016
  • Coaching is changing
    • Courses are going more generic for baseball/softball
    • Then you add on more blocks for specific skill development
    • Level 2 course will be key disciplines and then add on what you need
    • Open day coaching session across league could be an option, committee will look
    • Same type of session for the umpires, Ian will look at.
    • Also the same type of thing for the recruitment of players and share ideas

Umpiring

  • 27 qualified umpires across the EMSL
  • 10 BASU and 3 advanced umpires in the EMSL
  • Course run every year, this year it is 19th/20th March
  • We will have BASU assessments available at First Ball for umpires which we are paying for and trialling this year
  • People who feel comfortable should consider doing an advanced course. Speak to Ian Tomlin for more information

Website

  • New website up and running
  • New logo
  • New way to contact teams
  • David to contact teams about updating profile information
